Subject: Smaller Pastures & Bull Efficiency

I have been looking around for some pastures to rent for cows. And surprisingly have come up with quite a few options.

The one thing I’m struggling with though, these pastures are smaller in size, 25-30 acres a piece, and not close together, so not ideal to be moving or rotating between pastures. Bigger pastures are out there, but tough to find and even further away.

With a spring calving herd, and cows spread out on smaller pastures, this causes bull issues. Owning a bull for every group of 10-15 cows is not efficient.

Anyone else in a similar situation and have any advice to offer? I feel like there’s gotta be something I’m not considering that might make this work.

As much as I don’t want to do all the handling, I’m wondering if a timed AI program would help me?

Thanks in advance!
