After 20 years of EID here are my thoughts...
#1 The tag is free.
#2 I'm in range country and don't lose them.
#3 You don't need a reader. I still have a big tag in each momma.
#4 Learn how to put the tag in if you lose the regularly.
#5 I can see individual data from every calf slaughtered.
#6 I can use slaughter data to fix problems with certain cows.
#7 Most folks against it are concerned it will be used against them because they raise good cattle that aren't so good.
I can go on but I'll stop there. Those against it have no idea what they are against and literally they are scared buyers will discount because of low quality. It's been the same gripe about RFID tags for the last 20 years. Guys raising quality aren't ashamed of what they produce. Guys worried about their quality of calves can't figure out it's only for breeding stock.
