Chariton Iowa | Had a steer that was basically finished in December. He decided to be a jumper and has been running loose since with a cow herd. He obviously has lost a lot, but still has thickness to him. While trying to corral him he can clear basically a 7' tall fence, I will not let him out of the trailer on my place again.
What will that do to meat quality since he was finished and now isn't? Gamey or rank? We are not hurting for burger but we do have room. Or should I just take him to the barn as a weigh up. Surely still weighs 1200 ish
I have him caught. He is locked in the trailer. I'm just wondering what his meat would be like after all his fat has been lost.
I'm asking do we take to a locker and process, or take him and sell
