It will be mandated in all cattle soon enough. I’d bet money they can read them from 1/4 mile right now. Possibly from space even.
Stage 1 is harmless enough, but they have proven time and time again they want complete control. What happens in a few years when they require it for any size and sex leaving states and we have to have a vet vax them for us? It would be a huge cost and hassle. What if it’s every head and if you want to sell them they have to be done at the sale barn.
What do they have to gain by going rfid if they aren’t planning on something down the line? Even if they clean stuff about 11%, that’s enough data to make assumptions about 100%. At my job I successfully use data off probably 5% of customers that keep excellent data to make informed decisions for the other 95%. | |
