These are questions to ask your healthcare providers. They should be able to easily answer your questions. My guess is there is no connection but I am no doctor. Most likely your doctor has put you on a statin of some sort. Statins get mixed reviews. Some people have side affects with them an some do not. High cholesterol can be a genetic thing but it can also be caused by diet and lifestyle. Being active and watching fat intake are ways to bring down cholesterol and improve overall health. If you are overweight this will help you lose weight and losing weight can in turn help your cholesterol. Lifestyle and diet changes are the best way to control cholesterol but if that fails a statin is still better than a heart attack or stroke.
