Malta, Illinois | Excellent advice. I think there is a misconception that doctors like prescribing statins. They don’t. They really wish people would take responsibility for their lives and make changes in their diet and lifestyle that encourage healthier levels of cholesterol, blood sugars, and blood pressure. Since we as a society have become fat and lazy, doctors realize that most people don’t have the discipline and determination to make those changes. They are left with little choice but to prescribe medications that have been deemed beneficial. I keep reading that statins have not decreased mortality rates. First of all I think that would be hard to quantify but secondly I think there is a quality of life component that comes into play. | |
