Southeast WI		I have "things" in my truck when I'm consulting. Unless I'm safely tucked in a clients yard I lock the thing up. 20 years ago never gave it a thought. Some drug addict tried to steal my ATV ramps 15 years ago. Since then I've gotten more wary every year. Prevent crime as much as possible up front - however when we are planting like that it's common to leave truck and fuel/tool trailer along a road. Does bother me. People are becoming real garbage with each passing year.
