North of London | My kids always rib me for saying up the road and down the road.
Our road runs northwest or south east.
i was brought up using those terms probably because the intersection 'up' the road was the centre of the community with a store, church, 1 room 8 grade school and when I was real young a post office too so we went up to the store, school etc and down to the village 8 kms away that took us to the town which we would go 'into' town
Made perfect sense when you were raised with those terms and it was a special trip to go 'into' town when I was young | |
