I doubt it is specific to keto. It looks like long term starvation due to the insulin resistance of the blood brain barrier. It is different than insulin resistance in the rest of the body, it keeps insulin out of the brain.

Very good reason for the body to do this because if it didn’t the brain cells would take in too much sugar and swell, this is a bad thing when enclosed in a skull.

About the only time we see the swelling is when someone with acid ketosis is given too much insulin.

So keeping insulin resistance away seems to be pointed to very strongly as the path.

So we see Alzeheimers much more frequent in those diagnosed diabetic.

More common in women with their carb snaking.

And if they survive long enough it is likely going to be a normal outcome in type 1 diabetics with the just cover it with insulin theory.
