Malta, Illinois | There has been many a year when PP acres become the fly in the ointment for USDA's numbers during the growing season and into January. I think PP acres this year will quietly become a pretty big factor later this summer or fall. Locally, everyone is going to finish planting all of their acres. 2019 was about the only year I ever remember with acres not getting planted locally. Nationwide amongst very different topography and soils types with varying weather thrown in, PP happens every year somewhere. There is always a certain percentage of PP. I think from what folks like you those in other areas are saying, PP acres will be significantly higher this year than they have been since 2019. | |
