Subject: Double Crop Milo

North Central Texas
I was wanting to double crop some milo in our recently cut wheat field. We are going to no-till it in. My question is planting date. I read some studies done near Vernon, Tx in the 1980s and 1990s and late June planting date is ideal for double cropping due to the better chance of catching some rain mid to late August. However, we do not have a way to dry it after harvest. We sell it right out of the field. I am planting Pioneer 86P20 and black layer shows to be 9/8 if I plant it 6/24. It is still pretty hot at that time so will I have a problem with dry down? Could I push the planting to 7/1 and maturity be 9/17? Would I have an issue with dry down? The later I plant the better chance for rains around boot since we seem to get more rain mid to late August in North Central TX. Thanks in advance.
