Now, it adds carbon and similar to biochar/charcoal, in many respects like cec, negative charge, absorption, etc.
Like biochar, I would make sure you also add a healthy microbiology to the mix, whether it is a commercial product, compost tea, or a combination of the two.
I kind of see it like building a house, and you need folks to live in it. Your soil might not have all the right types folks you want to make your soil healthy.
Then the trickier part is sustaining the population.
You might be able to skip humic acid and just do cover crops and add the microbes. Or use cover crops to sustain the microbes. But it is a slower build up then just dumping it on. If you dump it on, you really only want to do it once.
And there are reasons why it isn't as effective for some and great for others.. | |
