So if the math says it is a wash is there any benefit to not planting it? Could you do some tile work? Deep tillage or manure that would be a long term benefit? If none of those apply then I would probably gamble that I could net as much planting a crop but it is a gamble this late but I would also factor ground conditions and forecast. Also are you enterprise or optional units? Enterprise increases the risk of a loss on planting it because you could have a very poor crop on that 40 acres but not have a claim because of the whole
