Supposedly, several applications of just roundup will work and best in late summer/fall when it is transporting nutrients to its 6+ft deep rhizomes and tubers. Shading supposedly works with limited succuss and raising the pH to above 7 helps slow it down. To kill just the vegetative part above ground, vinegar and dishsoap will work. Which makes me wonder if dishsoap (dawn) and RU would work. I have used that mix around the yard but it is really sudsy. I wouldn't put it in a tank. But spot spray maybe.... Or try and slow it with gypsum, then hit it with herbicide.

The deep rhizomes do scavenge and bring nutrients to the top.. it is breaking through the compaction layers. And it doesn't respond to nitrogen. It isnt necessary the worst plant you could have. But a pain in the rear to get rid of...

Now i have to check around the pond and make sure it didnt spread.. bah..
