I'm with Garvo on this one - cut them or have an experienced vet cut them. Recently it seems like many folks I talk with that have cattle all seem to have spring 2024 calves that are still bulls. It is so much easier and humane to cut them when they are under 3 months old. My vet cuts mine when we work the herd after the last calf is a couple months old. Never had a problem. They recuperate quickly on green grass with mama still nursing them. Running around like nothing happened after a few days. But banding or cutting 600-700+ lb bulls is just asking for trouble and sets the animal back much more than cutting earlier. |
