West Union, Illinois | Riverton - Do hearings aids do anything for the ringing? no ... yes. Hearing aids don't do anything for tinnitus. BUT I and others have noticed it seems to make it a little more tolerable at times. It seems to help fill in the spots in people's speech the constant tone interferes with and improves comprehension.
All the miracle cures you see online don't really help. But after a while everyone gets so frustrated they say "I'm willing to risk $45 in the hope maybe it really does work." About everyone I know has done that at least once. Me included.
I gave more for my hearing aids than most of the pickups I've bought (I tend to buy cheap trucks). Get them someplace with follow up service is very important. If you go south for the winter consider someplace that has an office nearby. I guess Costco or Sam's might. Most likely Beltone does. I don't recommend or warn against Beltone, but service while away from home is a consideration.. The independent I bought my first ones from switched to Beltone because he had too many clients that went south and then needed help while away from home.
I recommend rechargeables. It's just one less place for moisture to get inside them. With my first hearing aids my hearing aid guy commented I seemed to have a lot of moisture problems. I explained I work outside year round and spend a a lot of time in the summer around irrigators.
OH! One very important thing. Get your hearing aids listed on your homeowner's insurance. When you lose one you'll be thanking me. Guess how I know about that...
