AirTags would work but they rely on an Apple device with connectivity to update the location and tile i believe relies on someone running the tile app on their connected device to get a ping. Also Apple AirTag could or should notify a thief that’s there is a AirTag moving with them that they don’t own after being near them for a number of hours or reconnecting.
For larger equipment a razor asset tracker might fill the need.
