California bander, then castrate... depending. 400# if not going to the salebarn soon I'll just band and let be. If bigger I've found that with heavy nuts the weight can make the bag fall off too soon leaving an open hole. So I band, slit the sack and pull nuts out, cut. Just slitting the sack and the nuts will come out and drag around leaving a painful memory for you not to do that again. Works really well with no bleeding and dries up about as fast as you'd like. So band, slit, de-nut, tetanus shot.
