I think people need to look at tissue sampling as a reference not a in-season reference tool. By the time you are collecting the data and seeing a problem, it's way to late to remedy. I sample at regular intervals not determined by plant stage. I grab samples every 400 gdu and maintain a trend book to see what I'm influencing over time. Every sap test I've taken shows that I have too much soduim in the plant on the commercial fertilizer fields. Well when you are broadcasting and banding salt, it's reasonable that a bunch of that soduim is getting pulled in too. Whatever you do pick a good lab and stick with them for consistency in the data.
