Somehow I thought that naval ships could not be named after a living person, only after they had passed.
Edit: now I remember where I got this idea. Long ago read some military sci-fi thriller and in the story, a modern carrier goes through some time warp and arrives in ww2. The 40's folks realized the hi-tech weaponry must be from the future as the carrier is named after a then living admiral and no ship would be named after such unless from the future.
