Excalibur - 1/15/2025 08:52 You think the navy makes an aircraft carrier vulnerable enough to be attacked? Most if not all of the time they are escorted by many other vessels. We have weapons that shoot down missiles quite easily. Thus aircraft’s and drones are a non issue for threats.

And for the consolation prize:   Are you aware that about three weeks ago, USS Gettysburg shot down a US Navy F/A-18F which was in the marshal stack (nighttime landing pattern) a few miles behind the boat?    It was the recovery tanker, a "five-wet" jet meaning 5x 480 gallon external tanks with a retractable centerline drogue, therefore tons of extra weight and drag, they were at about 1200' altitude, 250 knots, all countermeasures and sensor systems turned off in preparation to recover.    The crew survived, but only because they had clear visual on the missile from the instant of launch and realized it was leading and tracking on THEM.   They punched out approximately three seconds before they would have died.

AND the Super Hornet a mile behind that one in the marshal was ALSO engaged, that jet was configured for defensive counter-air so much lighter and more maneuverable, he managed an evasive move and apparently missed being killed by approximately 100 feet.

Just don't think that anything or anyone is infallible because of what you might see from Hollywood.....
