KY | Thanks for sharing that transcript Clay. Wild night for sure. Very interesting to me it took 20 mins to get the helo over the guys in the drink. Used to be, zero exceptions, SAR helo (usually x2) airborne before the first bird catapults. Could have had enough distance between SAR and where the fighter went down to take that sort of time I suppose. They probably didn’t scramble one and get overhead in that length of time so I just have to assume they were up and just about as far off in the opposite direction as could be at the moment. I’m sure a lot has changed in a little over 20 years, but reading the transcript I can tell a lot that hasn’t, even with an entirely new generation or two of pilots. | |
