Malta, Illinois | It is entirely plausible that the USDA puts out a number close to 97 million acres given current prices. However, the probability of actually planting that many acres is much lower than that. Just the logistics and weather needed to plant that many acres is unlikely. We would have to have almost perfect weather everywhere to actually get that many acres of corn in the ground. With good weather and the rate at which operations can plant now it could happen but it is not likely. I think planted acres in the 94 to 95 million acre range are a lot better bet. | |
