Not exactly true in mn. Operating levies that is true. Bonding referendums no. But the state gives a levy credit for ag land on that levy I think around 50 percent. That was passed a few years back to rectify situations like the OP's . In districts with high commercial and residential tax bases in don't matter much. But many districts in outstate with 80 percent ag land it is a problem. Testified at state hearing on this committee members from Mpls and St Paul just flat didn't believe me. So if is outside their own experience. They believe what we want. Anyway Law got passed. It was a win. Saved about $600000 a year on our little district. Across the road at that time local ag in Ia was about $25 an acre also paying for a school. We were 40 for homestead ag land and $75 for non homestead ag land.
