| Maybe 10 years ago we visited the area. Actually stayed on Edisto Island in So. Car., but did day trips to surrounding communities. Savannah was one we visited. There are lots of old antebellum homes to tour, and old plantations to visit and tour if interested. My wife loves to look at old houses, and 200 year old china and other appointments. Guides told interesting stories about the "way of life" of the inhabitants of the area. We enjoyed the "hop on... hop off" trolley tour of historic sites in the downtown area. Probably worth the money. Pretty good food in the restaurants. Paula Dean's establishment is downtowns . I had always wanted to go there, and enjoyed the day. Probably have no need to return.
Charleston, So. Carolina was probably more interesting to me. The Citadel and Fort Sumter are there, along with more old mansions and plantations. showboat | |
