The old Nicholsen files were pretty good, but now some are made overseas and are not as good as the old USA made ones.
Starrets also treated me well, not sure if they are still the same as they used to be or not.
If you want a GOOD file, be prepared to pay for it. The best ones are from Sweden or Germany. I got a Swedish file once at a yard sale. It was used but in good shape. It will outcut any other file I have and leave a finish almost like a mirror. Don't know the brand, but it does say Sweden on the handle.
