I realize my experience was with just one purebred Fleck bull. I have also sold a few Herefords that were high headed. However I think there are certain breed characteristics. Why do Angus bulls have a Docility epd while Hereford bulls do not? The Fleck I had was not bad the first year but was very dangerous the second year I had him. Just be careful as around all bulls. As for scratching a bull's head, that is BAD advice for a newcomer. Even a gentle bull that got used to you scratching his head may decide he wants to be scratched when you have your back turned. I think some of the best advice I've been given is to never touch a bull. 1800+ lb bulls are not pets. As far as the picture of the H2 bull above, something still looks odd about his head and face. I seem to recall the Linear Measurement class I went to described an ideal bull very different than that pic. over and out on this one.
