Subject: RE: Prilosec acid reflux question

East Central Nebraska
My story, I also have fought acid reflux for about 30 years. I was off and on different medicines. Omprezole (spelling) is what I liked best. If I'd lose 30 lbs, I think that would fix my problem. Any rate, about 10 years about I started having pains what I thought was gall bladder. About 5 years about it starting getting worse and at least twice a year I was getting CT scans and MRI deal for gall bladder. Everytime I went in for a scan, I had no pain. My doctor sent me to a gastrologist about 4 years ago. They started from scratch which I swore was my gall bladder. My wife also sees this doctor with autoimmune liver issues. So I really trust him. He talkes to us every visit on only taking what he recommends for medications including anything over the counter. He hates ibeprofun type stuff. And talked to me about finding out my issue rather than throwing drugs at it. He put me on prescription omprezole, upper and lower GI etc. He needed to rule out heartburn and acid reflux. I asked him that I have been off and on long term and concerned about it. He said, better on this one or you well have massive issues from it. For a couple years they couldn't find anything wrong. Any rate, finally 13 months ago, I finally failed a MRI of the gall bladder. Failed miseable too. Had it taken out and the surgeon in Omaha was a part time farmer to boot around Minden Ne. Which was cool. I lost about 20 lbs and need to lose about 30 more, but I rarely have acid reflux anymore. I do take an omprezole like Christmas morning before we feast all day. My dad also dealt with sore throat for many years. The medicine they had him on to fight it was also contributing to it. Finally an ENT doctor got him on omprezole or something like that. He had to quit beer, but he allowed him to have a couple easy whiskey drinks like Canadian Club, Seagrams 7, or crown royal. Nothing else. He finally healed. Do not let it go. Get it figured out. Get a specialist involved.
