| We haven't had to spray every year. 2 yrs ago they were non-exsistant, so spraying would have been and added expense not needed. I find it hard to believe that 5 aphids per plant would cause any yield reduction. I refuse to spray unless they are increasing in population. if one watches and walks his fields you will notice increases. If I have 50 per plant the 1st of aug I will wait atleast one week to get 3 weeks residual that gets me past the 3rd week in aug when pops normally decline. Spraying to early could result in spraying twice. I'm drilled beans and airplane spraying is my only option.
Responsible IPM is the only way it should be approached. | |
