| Chad, we lowered most of our AA rates this year as well because of the high prices. In the past we have been putting the bulk of our AA on in the fall with a little sidedress. For this year's crop we were intending on putting the bulk of the AA on sidedress but with the AA sistuation last fall we got spooked & put most of it on last Nov.
On our better ground we are close to the 1-1 but are still close the 1.2-1 on poorer soils except for the sidedress & it's at the 1-1 ratio. We use to run a higher rate on the better soils & lower on the light ground but our the firm that does our soil testing says that the lighter ground ties the N up more in the lighter soils & therefore needs nore N. The guy that explained it to me has a PHD in corn management so I figured he should know what he was talking about. Besides, he was talking above this old country boy's head .......lol | |
