West central Ohio | We use a piece of 1/2" pipe with at least 2 complete spirals of 6 inch auger flight welded to the bottom of it. Screw it down in the middle, adding sections as needed. Need to pin the sections together so they will not unscrew when backing out. In corn and beans, you can turn it with vise grips or small pipe wrench. If you hit the middle, it usually will break the chunk. Then screw it back out. Never done any with wheat. Never done a bin over 48000 bushel either. Just a thought. Have seen people run an auger through a hole cut in the door. Turn the auger with a wrench or by power and it will go in ok. Just get it near center. Watched a farmer wrinkle a 5 year old 55000 bu Brock bin 5 years ago. Pulled corn out of second well from sidewall while pulling from center well. Worst thing was it was my corn in his bin. I felt bad even though he did it. Said they had done it before. Crushed 2 corrugations. Brock said tough luck. | |
